Tied up with Tie Dye

I’ll be the first to confess, one of my 3 Coachella outfits was a tie dye dress I scored while last minute online shopping. Right around this time of year, we see evidence of the cyclical nature of fashion’s most vivacious trends. Timing is no coincidence- it’s festival season (or would have been had it not been for Covid-19).

Rather than sitting in fields with your closest friends while listening to artists that define our generation, we’re sitting - fortunately - at home.  We’re doing our part to flatten the curve one person at a time, and it shows!

Our routines have been completely redefined. Through working from home, studying at home, or simply trying not to get on our family’s nerves, we have been forced to find a “new normal”. I have an issue with this saying- it sounds like we’re settling when in actuality we don’t have to.

Try your hand at a new recipe, try a new workout, try listening to a new artist. Heck, keep dressing up! Matter of fact, wear things you normally *wouldn’t* be able to wear if things were “normal”. I don’t mean only loungewear. Wear that fancy dress you bought for that one event and haven’t worn a second time. Wear your coolest sneakers that you can’t get away with while wearing with a suit. Wear fun makeup or that funky new coat.

Take this opportunity to express yourself, redefine yourself and most importantly re-energize yourself. Who knows when we’ll have a chance like this again.
